Scouts BSA ranks are earned in a specific order through skill development, leadership, and merit badges: Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life, and Eagle. These ranks are self-paced, not age-dependent, focusing on hiking, camping, and leadership, with Eagle being the highest achievement
Basic orientation, safety, and joining.
Focuses on foundational camping, fitness, and skills.
Expands on outdoor skills, navigation, and cooking.
Demonstrates proficiency in scouting skills, marking the transition to more advanced leadership.
Requires four months in a leadership position, 6 hours of service, and 6 merit badges.
Requires six months in a leadership position, 6 hours of service, and 5 additional merit badges.
